Well, leave it to social media to leak the most important fashion issue of the year. The Vogue September issue has been revealed, and it’s pretty f-ing amazing.
The cover features…are you ready?… REAL supermodels! That’s right, no celebrity faces here. Dubbed “The Instagirls,” Joan Smalls, Cara Delevingne and Karlie Kloss cover the glossy’s main page, while a pull-out feature revealed Arizona Mus, Edie Campbell, Imaan Hammam, Fei Fei Sun, Vanessa Axente and Andreea Diaconu. According to Vogue.com, which put the official cover up this weekend, the girls were picked because they are “all savvy on social media, they’re building their own brands and single-handedly catapulting themselves to this generation’s version of supermodel status.” WERK.
Shot my Mario Testino (of course), the girls look amazing in the season’s latest and greatest clothing. We first got a look inside the September issue when North Park Center, a shopping mall in Dallas Texas, Instagrammed the magazine. Ah, the “Instagirls” issue leaked by Instagram, how fitting! We’re just happy to see that Anna Wintour and her crew decided to put real models on cover, instead of say… Jennifer Lawrence, who although we love, has enough jobs right now! To be fair though, as our friends at Fashionista pointed out, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen three models on the Fashion Bible’s September issue. In 2004, Vogue featured Daria Werbowy, Natalia Vodianova and Gisele Bündchen on the cover — 10 years ago.
