We’re sad to report that fashion designer Vince Camuto has died. According to Women’s Wear Daily, Camuto died on Wednesday, January 21 at his home in Connecticut. The cause of death was cancer.

Camuto was a staple in the fashion and accessory world since 1978, when he and business partner Jerome Fisher founded the very popular brand Nine West. The duo eventually sold the company for $900 million in 1999. It was after that, in 2001, that Camuto launched the Camuto Group, which blossomed into a multi-billion dollar company. Under the Camuto Group are brands such as: Vince Camuto, Jessica Simpson, Tory Burch, BCBC MaxAzaria, Lucky Brand, Sanctuary and Arturo Chiang.

Dozen of celebrities took to social media to express their sadness over the death of Camuto, including Simpson, who called the designer a mentor.

 

Camuto leaves behind a wife and five children. He will be terribly missed by the fashion industry. Head over to Women’s Wear Daily to read more.
