Last night was the 2013 Teen Choice Awards. Filled with fun, fashion, and celebrities, you would think it couldn’t go wrong. While most of the night was filled with gorgeous outfits and heartfelt moments, some stars’ outfits did not seem to measure up. That’s okay, folks, there’s always next year!
Here we’ve outlined both the good and the bad.
THE GOOD
Lea Michele:

Oh, Lea, where do we begin? Her cute n’ pink outfit was feminine and classic. Paired with a teary “Thank You” speech in which she dedicated her award to the late Cory Monteith, we couldn’t help but sigh. This amazing talent and fan favorite undoubtedly wins best dressed for this paired down event, but also wins our hearts.
Lucy Hale:

Lucy Hale, 24, and actress of the hit TV series Pretty Little Liars was all smiles in all white at the awards. We personally love the all-white look and thought this outfit was totally adorable for her. Hale was also successful in pulling off the crop top looking without looking tacky! No easy feat but done perfectly here. She looks young, festive, and definitely not trying too hard.
Selena Gomez:

Selena Gomez, 21, is an actress, singer, and on-again-off-again girlfriend to the (in)famous Justin Bieber. Arriving alone, however, she still was able to catch all of our attention. She has come a long way from her days on Wizards of Waverly Place and looking more adult than ever. She was able to pull out the “sexy” while still being demure. The provocative slits luckily still left a little something to the imagination. Did we mention how much we love the forest green color, too?
Holland Roden:

Holland Roden, star on MTV’s Teen Wolf, looked incredibly pretty arriving at the awards ceremony. In a small, lacy, yellow number paired a red lip, and minimalist heels. The whole color palette is completely stunning for this actress’ complexion. We’re jealous!
Bella Thorne:

We’ll be the first to say that pulling off an overt print is tough, but done correctly you can look very chic and on trend. This Disney actress did just that. Her billowy top & skirt (or is it a dress?) are the perfect silhouette and length to pull off the surprising palm print. Two snaps for you!
Nina Dobrev:

A big trend we saw this award season was the – very popular – pantsuit. While Dobrev, was not the only one wearing a pants ensemble, we loved the silhouette, fabric, and splatter print. It was really quite Proenza Schouler circa 2010.
THE BAD
Anna Camp:

While we think Anna Camp is nothing but sweet, dresses like these need to be put to rest. The enlarged keyhole and lace is really doing too much. The ensemble looks something more commonly found on figure skaters (especially with that bun) than on the red carpet.
Naya Rivera:

Naya, you have an amazing bod, and I’m super jealous of you, but seriously? Crop tops are in (see Lucy Hale above) but this is going too far. This looks like a Pussycat Dolls performance costume and not something to be worn at an awards ceremony, no matter how casual the event is. Don’t get us wrong. We love each individual piece of the outfit, but together it just looks like she forgot her shirt!
Miley Cyrus:

I have nothing to say. I’m tired of this queen and her “punk rock” bondage looks. Give it a rest, Miley. We get it, you’re all grown up now… but can you please stop trying so hard?
Hayley Williams:

This is just disaster. I’m sure Hayley Williams of Paramore is nothing but a nice girl but this outfit is really confusing. It’s bondage, it’s studded, I don’t know. All I have to say is: Valentino. You’re doing it wrong. (Refer to shoes.) Take a note of my style guru, Giovanna Battaglia’s, take. Valentino: You’re doing it right.
Hana Mae Lae:

Perhaps this is part of actress Hana Mae Lae’s aesthetic but the concept behind wearing a plastic bag on your head that says,” I AM MAN,” is lost on me.
Ashley Benson:

While we normally love ourselves some Ashley Benson, we’re a little confused by this outfit. Where the bustier ends and the skirt begins is just right but there seems to be all this weird, unidentifiable fabric coming from her mid section making her look frumpy. The color combo also is just off… better luck next time, Ashley.
