Today, model and actress Stephanie Seymour turns 46, and we’re sure she is as fabulous as ever.
Born on July 23, 1968, the San Diego-born beauty began her modeling career at the young age of 16, working for various newspapers and department stores. Seymour’s rise to fame, however, came about in 1983 when she became a finalist at the Elite Model Management Look of the Year contest. In the ’80s and ’90s, Seymour remained a power-player in the modeling world, appearing on multiple Sports Illustrated covers as well as on the cover of Vogue.
By 1998, Seymour added “author” to her repertoire, after writing “Stephanie Seymour’s Beauty Secrets for Dummies.” Shortly after, she was presented on the cover of the November 1999 Millennium issue of Vogue (below) – alongside supermodels Kate Moss, Christy Turlington, and Naomi Campbell, to name a few – as one of the “Modern Muses.” (And can we take a moment to take in how amazing this photo is?)
Seymour made her silver screen debut in 2000, playing Helen Frankenthaler in the movie “Pollock.” These days, however, the model has her own opinions on actors as models, telling Interview Magazine in 2013: “Believe me, I love film and I love acting and I respect it enormously—I just feel sad for that part of our business. What are the girls left with? They do all the grunt work. They do all the shows and the fittings and all of the really tough, grueling work, but most of them don’t get to reap the same benefits [as actors]. There is also not as much money in it for a decent amount of girls, and the consequence of that is that it’s going to shorten the careers of models, and there are going to be a lot more one-hit wonders.”
Now the mother of five and married to billionaire Peter Brant, it is fair to say Seymour’s personal life is just as super as her modeling career. So here’s to you, Stephanie, and the next 46!
