Solange Knowles (yes, Beyoncé‘s little sister) has been named by Puma execs as the new Art Director and creative consultant. “After years of art-directing my own projects and visuals — including music videos, photo shoots, album artwork and web content, among many others — I am extremely excited to announce that I am now able to apply my passion for all things design into my new [role] as an Art Director for the iconic Puma,” she wrote alongside a photo of her rocking a pair of Puma kicks on her Instagram page.

She recently designed four unique versions of the iconic Puma Disc design entitled “Girls of Blaze.” The shoes are colorful productions from the mind of Knowles and designers Gerlan, William Okpo and Hisham Bharoocha.

The shoes are relevantly inspired by Brazil, a country that will be hosting the World Cup in 2014 and the Olympics in 2016. As a major provider of athletic apparel, Puma may be capitalizing on the country’s trendy prominence in the sports world.
Knowles’ presence at Puma will most likely bring about concepts full of colorful designs. Her personal wardrobe is a bright ensemble of outfits, and her time at Puma will undoubtedly be marked by the same creativity.

Regarding the beginning of her role at Puma, Knowles has stated, “It is in my new role that I am able to express my love for not only design but the conception of creative ideas and the execution of them by curating amazingly talented teams. I’ve had so much fun producing special content, ad campaigns, events, and working alongside the awesome Puma team with some of my favorite emerging artists, photographers, [and] graphic designers to create activations that really celebrate both mine and Puma’s approach and philosophies.”
We all look forward to seeing what else she comes up with.
