Carrie Bradshaw, the iconic fashionista character Sarah Jessica Parker played on HBO’s Sex and the City was always so enamored of footwear that she worries about literally ending up as the broke woman who lived in her shoe. So synonymous was Bradshaw with pricey pumps that having Parker create her own shoe line, once the series ended in 2004, seemed basically like a no brainer. Yet here she is, 10 years later launching SJP, a Nordstrom exclusive collection of 25 different styles. Although very overdue, we’re still super excited this line is really happening.
Well made and timeless shoes these days are extremely expensive, many costing upward of 1,000, Parker’s line is much more affordable for the average shoe lover, with shoes that range from $195 to just under $500. And Parker claims that every pair are all eminently wearable. “It’s how a shoe is made that usually dictates comfort. You can see how nice it feels. There’s really nice padding and it makes such a difference. They’re all made in Italy.” SJP states. Oh, you know how we love Italy.
Colors, which “are the new neutral” are the line’s central core. And although I’m sure some of you are feeling skeptical, thinking that this will just be another “wishy-washy” celebrity brand, SJP stays totally true to herself and her style legacy with her very first line.
Sarah Jessica Parker was even on-hand selling shoes and greeting customers from February 28th to March 2nd at the Pop Up shop’s Manhattan location, 372 West Broadway. She was there to answer questions about the shoes and talk about the line. Sounds like my dream come true… we totally wish we had been there.
The line, which also features handbags priced from $245 to $375 and a trench coat, the “Manhattan” at $495 is available from February 28th at Nordstrom.com and in select stores.
