Maybelline Master Duo eye liner

Between this L’Oreal hair mask and a few other product reviews to come, it’s been a good couple of weeks on the drugstore beauty front. Today we’re particularly excited about Maybelline Master Duo eye liner.

Of their newest liquid liner, Maybelline tell us…

Go from thin to thick with the twist of your wrist. Experience the revolution in liquid liner with Eye Studio Master Duo Glossy Liquid Liner’s unique 2-in-1 dual tip applicator: create thin, precise lines with one side and bold, thick lines with the other.

The gimmick here hinges on the liner’s innocuous-looking applicator. When viewed face down, it’s shaped like a very tiny disc (pictured above, left). Turned on its narrow side it more closely resembles a standard liquid liner with a tapered tip (pictured above, right). Use the applicator flat for a more dramatic line, or flip it onto its side for a precise, finer application. We were initially pretty skeptical about the feasibility of this, but as it turns out? It works. We’re partial to a finer line, but on those days when we’re feeling particular go-go, it’s nice to have the option.

That said, the real star is the formula. This is without a doubt the glossiest liner we’ve ever used, though it’s a bit hard to see that in our photos. It’s truly lacquer like. Pigmentation is quite good, though once in a while we end up with a line that is ever so slightly sheer. Wear time is truly impressive. We experienced no fading or flaking. Interestingly enough, when you’re ready to remove it, the product rubs off cleanly, almost like a peel. We don’t recommend rubbing your lovely eyelids to remove it, but it was interesting to see it come off our hand so cleanly when we were swatching.

Overall? This hasn’t left our eyes since we bought it. It’s a great everyday liner, and you can’t beat the price.
