Charlize Theron played Mavis Gary in Young Adult – a character who was stunning on the outside, a mess on the inside. This amazing actress, however, seems anything but in real life. In the February 2012 issue of W Magazine, Charlize Theron talked about her role as Mavis and posed for the camera. We have to say, she looked stunning.
Why are we rewinding all the way to the begin of last year again? It was her birthday yesterday! And, what better way to celebrate than to recap on this gorgeous shoot?
Charlize discussed growing up in South Africa where she dreamed of being an actress and her ultimate rise to fame. Her tale is almost reminiscent of a Cinderella story. From apparently not having any teeth as a child to becoming a little ballerina, and ultimately a model, it almost seems too good to be true. However, hard work always pays off and Theron was no exception to this rule.
Her vision from the time she was young always involved success. While at first she wanted to be a ballerina, she soon came to realize that she was too tall for the ballet world. However, this slight bump in the road did not deter her efforts to be in a creative industry. She realized her love for ballet had to do with the idea of telling stories through dance. Soon she realized she could do the same through acting. Thus her love for Hollywood was born, and she moved to L.A.
Luck was in her stars even when she first began on her quest in the acting world. Or was it talent? After appearing in her role in 2 Days in the Valley, she appeared on a billboard and almost instantly was launched into fame and stardom.
With roles in iconic movies like Monster, it’s no wonder she’s a household name.
Photographed by the masterful Mario Sorrenti, the scene and the attire fell in perfectly with the lighting creating a romantic aura.
Happy belated birthday, Charlize!
