Gone are the days when big names like Gisele Bündchen, Tyra Banks and Naomi Campbell rule the runway. We’ve entered a new age of supermodels, perhaps starting with Mango’s announcement to replace Miranda Kerr with Daria Werbowy as the new face of their brand.
The Ukrainian-Canadian model follows a long line of well-known Mango faces, including Kate Moss, Penélope Cruz, and Scarlett Johansson. Having received a contract from Lancôme and graced the cover of Vogue UK‘s September issue, Werbowy has certainly claimed her stake in the modeling industry, even though she has openly expressed concern over the role it has in the modern-day body image.

Actually, a whole batch of fresh faces is popping up in the industry. The much-hyped-about Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show (which also came with a slew of other interesting choices) featured an impressive lineup of model starlets, including Karlie Kloss, a 21-year-old Victoria’s Secret Angel who was declared a top 30 model of the 2000s by Vogue Paris, and Candice Swanepoel, the Forbes 2013 top-earning ($3.3 million) 25-year-old who was named the cover model for the Victoria’s Secret 2013 Swim Catalogue and was chosen as the lucky model to wear the $10-million-dollar “Royal Fantasy Bra” for the show.

Also entrancing the industry (and the “British Invasion” part of the VS Fashion Show) are Jourdan Dunn, the 23-year-old who in 2008 was the first black model to walk a Prada show in over a decade and who has her own cooking show called Well Dunn on Jay-Z’s Life+Times YouTube channel, and Cara Delevingne, the 21-year-old model trademarked for her eyebrows who won Model of the Year last year at the British Fashion Awards (and who, having dabbled quite a bit in the New York/London/Paris socialite scene, has racked up quite the impressive following on Twitter).
