Leather has never looked quite as good as it does in Naomi Campbell’s recent photoshoot for The Edit. In a series of glamorous outfits styled by Sasa Thomann, Naomi posed for photographer Nico to appear in the British fashion magazine’s October 2013 edition.
According to the cover, the London-born model/actress shows off a fall fashion trend in her shoot: “super-sleek, grown-up lady punk.” Not familiar with it? Second-skin leather, killer boots, and the ‘anti-evening dress’ are just a few of the hallmarks of this style, says The Edit. Bold? Absolutely. But if anyone can make this rocker-meets-businesswoman aesthetic look incredible, it’s Naomi Campbell.
Nearly every outfit in the shoot pairs black leather–decorated with plenty of silver buckles, buttons and zippers–with sky-high rhinestone-adorned heels and a different type of fabric. Metallic makeup and silver jewelry with sharp, jagged edges complete her ensembles.
One of our favorite looks is the pink, black and white houndstooth skirt and jacket with leather bralette underneath–it’s the perfect combination of professional and provacative. We had a few questions about Naomi’s bare-chested gray capelet outfit, but we love both of her little black dresses. One, a long-sleeved dress with asymmetrical neckline, would look fantastic for a night on the town. The other, a strapless corset topped dress with a slightly wider pencil skirt bottom, is perhaps more appropriate for an R (or X)-rated setting.
In her interview with The Edit, Naomi discusses her latest television role on the British version of “The Face,” airing later this year. We wonder if she’ll be wearing some of these looks on the show!
