We’re going to take a minute to step away from the Cara Delevingnes, Joan Smalls, and the Gisele Bundchens. We’ve started a new segment called “Models to Watch,” where each week we will highlight those girls trying to break into the next level of recognition and prominence.

Athena Wilson is this week’s model to watch. She is signed with Ford Models and is quickly garnering quite a stacked resume in the realm of fashion. The Californian broke onto the scene last fall by taking the Spring/Summer 2013 Fashion Week shows by a storm. In her first season ever, she walked in 35 different runway shows. We weren’t kidding when we said she took the scene by a storm. These shows included Mulberry, Giorgio Armani, Theyskens’ Theory, Mary Katrantzou, Ann Demeulemeester, Roland Mouret, and Mugler.

Earlier this year she spoke to The CUT. This is what she had to say about not only her first New York City show, but the first show she opened – an amazing accomplishment by such a new talent.

“It actually wasn’t nerve-wracking, but as I walked, I was trying hard not to smile. I was so, Hilary Duff, “This is what dreams are made of, hey now, hey now.” [laughs] It had been my goal for a while and suddenly it hit me.”

With high profile fans and wit to go with it? This girl is a catch. Take a look at some of her print work.
