No, this week’s Model to Watch isn’t Brooke Shields… although we did have to take a second glance! It’s been a while since we’ve been this excited by the looks of a new coming model. Tamara Weijenberg is a fresh face on the scene that has already garnered attention from top tier clients and fashion houses.

You would never guess how Tamara got her start… she was the winner of Holland’s Next Top Model, Season 5. Very rarely, if ever, have we seen models go on to make names for themselves in the actual industry. On the show, the talent went by the name of Tamara Slijkhuis. After her win, she has changed her working name to what she goes by now, Tamara Weijenberg. Her mother agency, Future Faces Model Management, has said that the change was implemented to separate her from the reality show (so we apologize for bringing it up!) The agency has done a great job of that, as she is definitely being taken seriously as one of the worlds most up-and-coming models.
Since her win in 2011, Tamara has sincerely wowed us. Her resume includes the names of Valentino, Miu Miu, Chloe, Loewe, Missoni, Max Mara, Acne, Marc Jacobs, and Alexander Wang. The last 6 additions were all added in just the Spring 2013 season! Walking in each of their shows, Weijenberg has secured an attitude all her own that top level clients have fallen head over heals for… it’s gotta have something to do with that brow line!
If you asked us what our favorite work by her would be, we’d have a tough time. We’re going to do our best. This October 2013, ELLE Netherlands selected Tamara as their cover star. She shows her ability to display a sense of stillness, something that’s incredibly difficult to produce in certain conditions. Her body language is almost lyrical in this editorial, check it out:
