If there’s any fashionista that speaks to the inner depths of our souls, it’s Mindy Kaling. That is why we were so excited to see her covering the October issue of FLARE magazine.

On the cover, Kaling looks absolutely stunning while wearing a blue and orange striped dress, as she sits like a boss on a leopard-printed chair. In the issue, Kaling opens up about her serious obsession for fashion, making her again all too relatable to us. “I love clothing so much; it almost scares me sometimes,” she said. “Whoever said, ‘Anyone can wear a dress, it’s how you dress during the day that matters’—I really believe that.”

She admitted that some of her favorite designers are Rag & Bone, Vince, Miu Miu and Lela Rose, who by the way she wore during the 2013 Met Gala, where she actually encountered an unfortunate incident. “I lost a ring I [had borrowed] that was incredibly expensive, so that was kind of the worst.”

But when it comes to style, what we really love about Kaling is that she doesn’t listen to the haters and is all about enforcing her own style, with the help of her stylist Hayley Atkin.  “If you love fashion and you’re not skinny and something fits you, most stylists are like, ‘That’s great for you,’ and it sucks,” she said. “I have my own taste and I want to try weird stuff and Hayley’s not going to put me in a fuchsia shift just because it fits me and hides my quote-unquote problem areas.”

Love it!
