Miley Cyrus has been causing quite a stir lately. Her new album, “Bangerz,” drops October 4th. Her MTV-produced documentary, The Movement, just aired last night and is causing a ton of internet buzz (just the way she likes it).
And now, iTunes is streaming it for free for anyone who wants to give the album a listen to before purchasing. Each song is packed with serious punch and with catch phrases any of us would like to rock on a graphic tee. The phrases range from cute to sassy to down right “huh?”
1. Adore You
When you say you love me, know I love you more.
Adore is a word that is often not used enough. Not saying love is overrated, but how awesome would it be to bring the word adore into style? It gives all the affection that the word love does, with less strings attached.
2. We Can’t Stop
It was impossible to pick just one, there’s too many gems in this song that would be perfect to don on a graphic tee with some skinny boyfriend jeans and a don’t care attitude.
It’s our party we can love who we want.
This is our house, this is our rules.
Cause we gonna go all night,
Till we see the sunlight.
Can’t you see it’s we who own the night,
Can’t you see it we who bout’ that life?
We run things, Things don’t run we.
3. SMS (Bangerz) (feat. Britney Spears)
You say you love me, I aint fooling with that.
I be struttin’ my stuff
Where the dollars at?
The combination of Miley Cyrus and Britney Spears is pretty much the peanut butter and jelly of the (strategic) hot mess world. Nonetheless, SMS (Bangerz) is catchy, and as someone who struts when she walks, I want to walk into the club and ask, “where the dollars at?” Or maybe I should let my tee do the talking.
4. 4×4 (feat. Nelly)
I’m a female rebel, can’t you tell?
A little bit of dirt never hurt nobody.
This song is going to be the next anthem you’re going to dance to when out with your best friends. Guaranteed. Isn’t the best feeling thinking you’re a rebel, and better yet, that everyone knows it?
5. My Darlin’ (feat. Future)
Shadow of a broken-hearted girl.
We gonna make a movie.
You still got me high.
This mix on “Stand By Me” is actually a great mix of this classic. There’s a lot of the song that I’ don’t understand. (I get you’re making a movie, but why in 3D? Maybe a tribute to the Hannah Montana 3D Experience?) but this song has some great lyrics that would work on a graphic tee.
6. Wrecking Ball
Wrecking Ball is one of the singles that was released from “Bangerz” in August. The song was and still is a hit, and Miley swinging from a wrecking ball and sexually caressing a hammer made the video go viral. As sad as this song is, it has a few heart-wrenching quotes that will make you wear your heart on your sleeve. Well, on your shirt at least.
I will always want you.
I never hit so hard in love.
I never meant to start a war.
7. Love Money Party (feat. Big Sean)
Love, money, party.
Need I say more?
8. #GETITRIGHT
#GETITRIGHT.
This song’s title has a #HASHTAG, so a #HASHTAG shirt is necessary. If anyone sasses you, simply just point at your shirt. I think they’ll get the picture. For the second suggestion, I’m thinking it’ll work on a cute graphic tee to snuggle up and sleep in. It is also the most accurate, true to my life lyric I have ever read #teamsleepytime.
9. Drive
I’ll ignore when you call.
You can drop the keys off in the morning.
Can you say, “perfect after recently breaking up with your ex” tee?
10. FU (feat. French Montana)
I told you I was weak for love.
I got two, ooh letters for you,
One of them is F and the other one is U.
The first one, sensitive and emotional. The second one, a shirt you wear when you don’t want someone talking to you early in the morning.
11. Do My Thang
I’mma do my thing,
So don’t you worry about me I’ll be okay.
Mind your business, stay in your lane.
Oh yeah, I’m a southern belle.
I’mma shoot ‘eoHm down baby,
Look at me, I’m high up off the ground baby.
I’m sure that this song is to Miley’s #haters. For all your haters of your own, or if you want to express your proud Southern tradition, you can work any of these shirts.
12. Maybe You’re Right
You might think I’m crazy.
Maybe you’re right.
I’m thinking that “you might think I’m crazy” should be on the front of the shirt, and “maybe you’re right” on the back.
13. Someone Else
Tell me that now is not the end.
If you’re trying to find pity, then you need to look somewhere else.
The first one works for a post-apocalyptic party, and the second for days you want someone to say, “no, stop, I think you’re so pretty!”
