If Michelle Obama is any indication of how good the 2014 Met Gala will be, we just can’t wait.
FLOTUS wore a green, long-sleeved floral Naeem Khan dress during the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Anna Wintour Costume Center at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. We heard weeks ago that Mrs. Obama would be doing the honors and on Monday she delivered a speech praising the one and only Wintour. “I’m so impressed by Anna’s contributions not just to fashion but to this great museum. This center is for anyone who cares about fashion and how it impacts our culture and our history,” Obama said.
The First Lady clearly knows how important the fashion industry is and has been a long-time supporter of up-and-coming designers since day one. She even mentioned bringing students to the White House for a fashion workshop — how exciting!
Other famous faces from the ceremony include Calvin Klein, Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs and Victoria Beckham. Although Mrs. Obama won’t be attending Monday night’s Met Gala, there are still plenty of other fashionistas to keep a look out for, like Mary-Kate Olsen, Kimye, Olivia Munn and Taylor Swift (the list goes on and on!).
There will be no live-stream tonight of the event, which pretty much is horrible. But you can stay updated by checking out the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Twitter. It’ starts at 6 PM EST, so set your clocks now!
