Lily Pulitzer, queen of prep and Southampton style, turned 81 years young on November 10th. The put together lady is known for her vibrant and eye-catching colors. With several locations for her high end stores such as the Upper East Side and the Hamptons, Pulitzer understands her customer well. The outfits and looks are young, vivacious, yet classic and refined. We decided to pay tribute to this lively lady by showcasing one of our favorite looks. Bonus, the pieces will cost you much less than her original pieces and save you a trip to the UES.
This particular ensemble is made up of rich, vibrant colors mainly of pink and aquamarine tones. The accessories are simpler, with basic nude, bow-tie kitten heels and no visible jewelry. The model looks natural yet festive. That’s the exact look we would like to evoke, but of course with a twist.
While we love Lilly Pulitzer’s bold print ensemble, we also think that it might be a bit much for everyday. Instead we opted for some pink, fitted jeans to get us started. From this starting point, the Anna Field Hawaiian Print Floral blazer seemed most fitting and on-theme. In addition, it comes in at a fraction of the price of the Pulitzer piece. Win Win!
After the gist of the outfit was decided upon, it is necessary to accessorize and personalize. To add elegance and class, we could think of no better way than to choose some simple pearl jewels. Keeping it to a minimum with a pair of pearl studs and a bracelet make perfect accents. This allows the outfit to go from “adolescent” to “adulthood”.
Due to the loudness of the outfit colors and prints, it is best to stay simple with the shoes. These nude flats are cute and comfortable while also being versatile – not to mention : inexpensive. Even if you think this ensemble is too wild for you, we don’t see why you wouldn’t purchase these from your closest Forever 21!
Finally, as you all know, make up is a huge part of every outfit. It is best to stay simple with some pale pink gloss and let what you wear speak for itself.
