Luxe For Less: Ellie Goulding

English singer/songwriter Ellie Goulding hasn’t been in the limelight for long, but with multiple chart-topping hits like “Anything Could Happen” and “I Need Your Love” with Calvin Harris, there is no doubt that she has already made a place for herself in the industry. Today is her 27th birthday, so we at Haute Talk can think of nothing better than to celebrate by giving you a Luxe For Less dedicated to the songstress.

Goulding has definitely created her own sense of style. She posed for TWELV magazine (above), and we think she looks incredibly stunning. The sheer skirt coupled with the structured jacket is a daring ensemble to try, but it’s definitely worth a shot to recreate for those willing to give this look a try.

We began with the basic components of the outfit: the dark color scheme and the sheer maxi skirt. We loved the idea of a slouchy gray turtleneck because it is perfect for winter and makes a great contrasting texture to the lightweight skirt. In addition, the tough Carvela Boots were a perfect choice for an edgier feel. The best part? Finally, we recommend keeping the makeup minimal and neutral but accenting the outfit with some black nails. The key to black nails is making sure you purchase a good nail polish and maintain them. Chipped black nails never look good, but it looks quite chic when done correctly.
