We know people get a lot of flak for posting selfies, but here’s one awesome reason why you should take one right now… with red lipstick on.

Victoria Held is encouraging people to take red lipstick selfies in order to raise money for lung cancer research. According to her Just Giving page, Held’s mother died from lung cancer in March of this year. In order to honor her mother and to help others, she started this special social push. “I’ve started up this #redlipstickselfie campaign, to “Kiss Lung Cancer Goodbye” but also because my mum loved wearing red lipstick…..wherever she was, the beach, swimming, shopping, she would be wearing red lipstick. It was her signature look,” Held wrote.

So far, the hashtag has generated some pretty amazing photos. Everyone from babies, grandmas and even guys are submitting pictures of themselves wearing red lipstick. The money donated through her Just Giving page will go to the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, a charity focused solely on lung cancer research,  in the United Kingdom.lung cancer

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevent, 1.8 million people worldwide were diagnosed with the disease in 2012. If you want to join Held to help prevent lung cancer, just upload a photo of yourself to Twitter or Facebook using the hashtag #redlipstickselfie, or you can send your photos to [email protected] and provided a donation.
