Enigmatic Lana Del Rey Covers Nylon Magazine for November 2013

The most mysterious pop star to grace the airwaves has to Lana Del Rey. Her signature style, a mix of  Americana and lounge singer, has set her apart from the pack. On the cover of Nylon, she has changed her look from what we were used to seeing this summer and is more All-American hipster. She was photographed by Marvin Scott Jarrett and has six different looks from the cover. This particular issue of Nylon Magazine is dedicated to denim, and the singer is seen wearing some version of it in almost every shoot.

For her cover look, Lana is wearing a denim shirt by Calvin Klein Jeans, a black bustier by Nasty Gal, a lace high-low skirt by DKNY, a necklace by Blue Bayer, and a choker and rings by Pamela Love.  In her most casual look, she is seen wearing a black and white striped sweater by Joe’s, bleached jean shorts by Levi’s, tights by Anna Sui and Versace sunglasses. She is also spotted wearing a faux fur coat by Marc Jacobs, with a dress by Lindsay Thronburg, and sneakers by Converse. In all the photos, her makeup is very natural with the most emphasis placed on her lips and brows.

Although Lana Del Rey as achieved notoriety in the music industry, she still seems to be unknown and surrounded by controversy. Her song “Summertime Sadness”  sold 1.1 million downloads and her song “Young and Beautiful” was featured in The Great Gastby.  In her interview with Nylon, the signer opens up about struggling with the creation process of her next album. She explains that it’s harder to create music when you think everyone is watching you. Her highly anticipated short film “Tropico” has not been scheduled to be released yet, but she describes it as Elivira meets Jesus mixed with Marilyn and extraterrestrials all in one movie.
