That’s right, the It couple has gotten engaged. Kanye West proposed to girlfriend Kim Kardashian yesterday, on her 33rd birthday, and in true Kimye fashion, there was a lot of fanfare. We’re talking “PLEASE MARRY ME!” on the screen at AT&T Park in San Francisco followed by a 50-piece orchestra playing Lana Del Rey’s “Young and Beautiful” which we thought was a bit of an odd choice, but the longer we thought about it the more it makes sense.
Back in June, the couple welcomed their daughter North West, into the world, to the country’s excitement. It was only back in February that Kim was quoted in Cosmo magazine saying that while marriage is something that they both want, they didn’t have a sense of urgency.
The couple are not the only ones who are excited about the engagement though. People close to them were quick to jump on social media to announce the news. Kim’s sister Khloe exclaimed on Twitter “Wow!!!!! Am I dreaming??!?!” immediately following it with “Tears of JOY!!!!!!! Wow!!!!!!” Kim’s hairstylist Clyde Haygood snapped a picture of the ring and posted it to Instagram with the caption “Guess what just happened!! #kimye.”
Hastag Kimye is right.
The ring, of course, is amazing. The Lorraine Schwartz 15-carat diamond ring is huge and beautiful. While no one has officially stated how much the ring costs, Brian Watkins, the president of Ritani took a guess saying it could be around 4 to 5 million. Pocket change for Kanye, of course.
There is no date set for the wedding, but we just know it will be a blowout. This will be Kim Kardashian’s third marriage. The last one being her famous 72 day marriage to Kris Humphries. We like Kimye, so we hope this one lasts.
