Last week we wrote about John Galliano’s absence from the Met Ball. Today word has come that the designer’s controversial four-day master class at Parsons the New School for Design has been cancelled.

According to a statement released by the school: “An important element of the planned workshop with John Galliano was a candid conversation about the connection between his professional work and his actions in the world at large. Unfortunately, we could not reach consensus with Mr. Galliano on the conditions of this conversation, and the program could not move forward.”

This comes on the heels of a student-led petition that garnered more than 2,100 signatures. So no academic glory for Mr. Galliano. Does this mean he’ll go back to crashing on Oscar de la Renta’s couch?
