Let’s just start this off by saying that we’re going to hope you know who Jimi Hendrix is.

There aren’t many people who can come close to Hendrix’s musical finesse and style. The man who gave an edgy twist to the Flower Power movement may be more well-known as a music mogul rather than a style icon, but for this girl, the daughter of a music-obsessed father, Jimi Hendrix is both a music and Boho god. We’re deeming him the “Father of  Boho-Chic” and if you’ve ever seen a picture or two of him, we don’t have to tell you why. In honor of what would be his 71st birthday, we’ve tracked down a few present-day Hendrix-inspired bohemian rocker looks.

Originally published in the March 2010 issue of Vogue EspañaAnja Rubik rocks ensembles inspired by the late Hendrix. Featuring everything from rocker to a little boho-chic, Rubik stuns in pieces by Miu Miu, Ann Demeulemeester and others in Hey Jimi thanks to stylist Belén Antolín and photographer Patrick Demarchelier. Pair a flowery, flowy dress with edgier accessories, an over-sized sweater and a little bit of leather, and you’re well on your way to mastering the art of boho-chic. Take a look below at this flashback photo shoot. We hope you get inspired by the birthday boy himself and these killer boho-chic ensembles that are sure to make a statement.
