Eye shadow is fantastic I mean, I own enough eye shadow to give half of the New York population a fantastic smoky eye and I don’t think that’s a problem. Everyone needs a go-to palette that is like a child to them and if you don’t have that palette yet, you’ll be sure to fall in love with one of these.
Plus, if eyes are the windows to the soul, we better be sure that our eyelids look gorgeous and fabulous. They’re basically the curtains of the soul, don’t you want fabulous soul curtains? Okay, I’ll stop calling eyelids soul curtains, but these eye shadow palettes have some seriously gorgeous colors that are perfect for everyday wear or a fun avant garde look. Let’s get started!
1. Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eye Shadow Collection – $49
First of all, packaging is everything. This palette looks like a freaking chocolate bar and that brings me so much joy! It will totally bring you joy as you use it every morning and are reminded of the delightful delicacy that is chocolate. Plus, it contains COCOA POWDER. IT SMELLS CHOCOLATE-Y, WHAT?! Anyways, the colors are gorgeous, too and it has many pinkish, plum and brown neutrals that range from matte to shimmer.
2. Coastal Scents 252 Ultimate Palette – $29.95
So I bought this a few months ago when it was on sale for 50% off (Coastal Scents has so many sales, so keep an eye out!) and it is the coolest thing I’ve ever bought. It has every color you can possibly ever need or think of and the colors are SUPER pigmented. This is not an everyday neutral palette, but it is perfect for adding a pop of color or just playing around with fun beauty looks. This is a total must-have (plus, it’s a great deal for the amount of shadows you get!)
3. Maybelline The Nudes Palette – $9.99
This is a perfect everyday neutral palette! There are a mix of matte and shimmery shades and the palette is pretty compact, so it’s easy to toss into your bag or to travel with. The Nudes palette is a great drugstore find.
4. Urban Decay Electric Pigment Pressed Palette – $49
This is another palette that is not really for an everyday look (unless you like looking really bright and funky every day, which would be pretty awesome) but it’s still fantastic for occasional pops of color and crazy looks. These electric shades range from matte to shimmer and I just want to touch them all, don’t you?
5. Smashbox Full Exposure Palette – $52
This palette is stunningly gorgeous and is perfect for day-to-night looks. A neutral eye can easily be done, but then it can be smoked up and darkened with the darker metal shades. These neutrals have so many finishes and every color will totally get its fair share of use.
6. Too Faced Natural Eye Neutral Eye Shadow Collection – $36
Okay, you know how for some eye shadow palettes you use ALL of one color yet still have a ton of colors that you’ve never so much as breathed on? Well, I totally do. This palette is so flawless and cohesive that you will totally get use out of every color. Each shade is gorgeous and neutral and offer different tones from rosy to golden. Of all of the palettes, this one is my absolute FAVE! It’s also a pretty fun palette — most of the eye shadow names are kind of sexual, I guess they took the term “nude” literally.
7. stila Eyes Are the Window™ Shadow Palettes – $49
These come in a few different shades (Body, Spirit, Soul & Mind). They are all pretty and sparkling (or matte) colors that are sure to make your eyes pop. The packaging is also really fancy and elegant. Props to stila for totally vibing with my eyes being the window to the souls reference in the beginning of the post.
8. Wet n Wild Color Icon Collection in “Poster Child” – $5
These super bright and fun drugstore shadows are really pigmented AND you read the price right — it costs five bucks. This is one of few gorgeous and quality palettes that won’t make your wallet cry and beg for mercy.
9. NARS “And God Created The Woman” Palette – $59
The name of this palette is pretty awesome and these colors are a unique collection of shades. These shadows are bound to give anyone that sultry and sexy movie star look. Plus, although the price is a little bit scary, this palette does come with an eye shadow primer and an eye brush!
10. Lime Crime’s Venus Palette – $42
Although this brand is sometimes considered controversial (there’s been a few supposed scandals with the CEO), there’s no denying the beauty of the palette. This reddish palette is surprisingly versatile and perfect for achieving that throwback grunge look that’s been super popular on Tumblr.
