When we say ‘awards show fashion,’ we know what you’re thinking: ‘No, please! Too much excitement! Too much variety! I pine for a good batch of jewel-toned satin gowns with classic Hollywood styling!’ We know how you feel–the unexpected, always-fresh avant gardeism of awards show red carpets can be over-stimulating. But bear with us. We’ve rounded up of our favorite Emmys 2012 looks for you.
Julianne Moore – We look with an envious eye on anyone who manages to truly Rock yellow, particularly this particular shade of fluorescent Easter Candy yellow. As usual, Julianne pulls it off with aplomb. We love the simple styling of this Dior dress and the red lip.
Tina Fey – This Vivienne Westwood gown is a stunner, and Tina looks gorgeous, but we find ourselves wondering why her hairdressers are intent on making her hair quite so…tall. That said, the gown fits her like a glove and we’re digging the minimal accessories. (This Oscar de la Renta look still ranks number one for us in terms of Tina’s red carpet looks, though.)
Leslie Mann – This shot brought a smile to our collective face. The earrings, the kicky-casual updo. Or maybe it was just the subconscious recognition of Veuve Clicquot yellow in this Naeem Khan gown and the fact that Leslie looks like a particularly impish bottle of champagne. Either way, she’s gorgeous.
Allison Williams – This dress successfully embodies why most awards show red carpets are such effective sleep aids. That said, the color is really stunning, we love the hair, and we’re so happy to see her outside of the context of That TV Show that the whole thing just feels like a major victory.
And, one for the road. This adorable shot of Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt. Looking adorable.
