There is not much more to say about actress Emma Watson that hasn’t already been said. She captivated a generation as the headstrong Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movie series, and since then she has continued to grow as a an actress and fashion icon.
The 23-year-old has recently been seen in film hits such The Bling Ring, This is The End, and Perks Of Being a Wallflower. She is now showcasing her more eco-friendly side – a side that Watson has always felt strongly about – in the online luxury fashion magazine and retailer, Net-A-Porter. The shoot is perfect for her since it takes the gowns from the Green Carpet Challenge that was set forth in 2009 by Livia Firth, wife of Oscar award-winning actor Colin Firth. The idea is to challenge designers to create garments that are ethically produced to create a new fashion industry. Anything that is gorgeous and ethical is a win-win in our books.
Watson is wearing looks from designers like Victoria Beckham to Christopher Kane. The images, shot by photographer Bjorn Iooss, gives Watson a timeless Hollywood look that matches the likes of Elizabeth Taylor or Jean Harlow. Watson is extremely excited to be able to showcase the importance of ethics in fashion, and how frustrating mistreatment of garment makers is to her, having stated,
We don’t support slave labor in this country, so we shouldn’t support those conditions in other countries. I can’t wrap my head around why ethical clothing is a specialty and not a base standard.
