Singer Rita Ora has definitely become, shall we say, a muse for Donna Karen.
According to Women’s Wear Daily, Rita Ora was chosen by Karen to be the face of her her latest fragrance, DNKY MyNY. According to the designer, there’s really no one else who would be better to sell the perfume. “If Rita can’t sell it, I don’t know who can,” Karan said. “You’ve got a young, hip woman of New York speaking about it, a woman who goes from day to night. I think Rita’s a great representative of DKNY. She’s full of life, she’s about what everyone wants to feel — energy. And I find her ageless. She’s like this Energizer Bunny who can wear anything from track shoes to stilettos, DKNY to Donna Karan. I love the girl as a person, too. She walks the talk.”

Well, that’s a compliment if we’ve ever heard one — even though we think Karen could have gotten a born-and-raised New Yorker for the job. The fragrance, which will be available later this year, has notes of raspberries, pink pepper, Egyptian jasmine and musk — just to name a few. The scent pays homage to New York City, so it’s great that it’s refreshing because let’s face it, New York City in the summer time? Not so much.
This is Rita Ora’s first fragrance campaign, but she has modeled in prints for DKNY’s ready-to-wear collection, as well as walked the designer’s runway show. Let’s also not forget that the singer is also collaborating with Adidas on a line of clothing. We can only assume she’s eventually going to start her own funky line, and we for one, can’t wait.
