We don’t know about you, but any time we see or hear the word “cookie” we have to investigate further, whether in the form of baking them or eating them. So, when our DIY-obsessed selves got wind of this oatmeal cookie scrub that you can use to exfoliate your entire body and then keep the leftovers to bake actual cookies with, you can only imagine our excitement and eagerness to test it out. The verdict? It works just as wonderfully as it tastes! Made with oatmeal to calm any redness on the skin (hello, windburn), brown sugar to remove dry or dead skin cells, a pinch of cinnamon to help clear up blemishes and coconut oil for a healthy surge of all-over moisture, the scrub is the perfect body polish to get you through the last few weeks (or, dare we suggest, months) of winter. Oh, and we totally won’t blame you for going on a cookie-baking spree after using it, because we totally did.
What you’ll need:
- 1/2 cup dried oatmeal
- 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp. coconut oil
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- a large mixing bowl
- a small, re-sealable jar or container
Combine the oatmeal, brown sugar, cinnamon and coconut oil (make sure it is melted into a liquid—sticking a small bowl of it in the microwave for 20-30 seconds usually does the trick) in a large bowl and mix with a spoon until it is blended well. Apply the scrub on your arms, legs, face and body with your fingertips and massage into skin for 10-30 seconds. Rinse off with warm water and pat dry with a towel. Store the remainder in a re-sealable container in the fridge for another use, or to make a batch of cookies with!
