For Vogue Paris‘ celebratory December/January 2014 holiday issue, power couple David and Victoria Beckham are invited to be featured on the issue’s cover and in a feature as the duo talk about the secret to being happily married for nearly 14 years. The couple sizzles on the front cover of the magazine (above), shot by photographer duo Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin as David, wearing a Lanvin tuxedo with Cartier accessories, embraces his wife, who gives the 2013 Pantone color of the year one last run for its money in her emerald dress and matching earrings. The couple also appears in an alternative cover (below) in which David stares at the camera and Victoria, arms around him, looks off into the distance.
Victoria Beckham was invited to be the guest editor of this issue, an offer she very excitedly accepted, and it was reported that David was by her side for most of the process, too. “Being asked to be the guest editor of the Christmas issue of Vogue Paris this year was an incredible honor,” the former Spice Girl says. “Working with [Editor-in-Chief] Emmanuelle Alt and her team was both exciting and inspiring and I am so proud of what we have created.”
And Alt and her team could not have been more pleasantly surprised by Victoria’s handiwork for the issue. “We handed over the running of this issue to a woman who, throughout our working together, has proved to be the exact opposite of her public image,” Alt says, most likely referring to many people’s assumption that Victoria is cold and unfeeling (though just last month she auctioned off a portion of her wardrobe to benefit Typhoon Haiyan relief). “She is spontaneous with a great sense of humor, humble yet at the same time driven by a healthy ambition,” Alt continues. “She is a perfectionist, like everyone who is passionate about their work.”
Inez and Vinoodh also captured some other group and individual shots of the Beckhams to appear inside the issue. Check them out here.
