Since she exploded onto the scene earlier this summer with her performance in Kick-Ass 2 and her increased presence in the fashion industry this summer, we’ve been keeping an eye on Chloe Grace Moretz.
Our most recent memory of Chloe was of her covershoot with Glamour Magazine, where she was the epitome of classic glam. Donning styles that bring the audience back to 1940s Lauren Bacall, Chloe was transformed into the fabulous star we wouldn’t expect of a 16-year-old. Juxtaposing that shoot to her October 2013 covershoot with W Magazine showcases a stark contrast between vintage glamour and contemporary grunge.
Photographed by Craig McDean and styled by Olivier Rizzo, Chloe wears select pieces from Prada and Calvin Klein and these vintage PF Flyers in a grungy photoshoot. The scene is much more raw and bare, all shot in an industrial room. You can see the elements of raw youth in her surroundings: the radiator and the school chair in the foreground and background, all framed with a worn-down flooring. “Generation W”? We think the point of view of presenting Chloe as “young, cool, and on the verge” was executed gracefully. Check out the photoshoot below.
