The 2013 Emmy Award Nominations were announced last week at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in North Hollywood. A name on that list that made our hearts jump is Kerri Washington; nominated best lead actress in a drama series for her role in Scandal – in which she plays the high-powered political strategist and soft-hearted incurable romantic Olivia Pope. The actress is among only five non-white acting nominees in the field of 96.

Kerry Washington already had a great year. In late June she had a low-key wedding where she married Nnamdi Asomugha, cornerback for the San Francisco 49ers. On top of that, she recently went back into production for the 3rd season of Scandal.

So, what should Kerry Washington wear on the red carpet come the Emmy Awards in September? You know us, we’ve got some things in mind.

1. Clover Canyon

While not widely known designer, Clover Canyon has a special place in our hearts. We’re fans of the exciting patterns and geometric chaps used delivered season after season. We think Kerry Washington would look great in this predominately white dress. We would style it with a pair of white heels instead of the black platforms and add a white clutch to the ensemble. Simple, clean lines, a winner.

2. Lanvin

Minus the grungy hair-do, (sorry Cara!) we think this shape would be great for Kerry. We would style it with either white or nude heels.

3. Valentino

For some reason we couldn’t get white out of our heads. This is a shorter option, but with all the comedy and fun that will be happening at the Emmy’s, we think it’s a good fit for the star.

Oh, and we forgot these two items:

Here’s to you Kerry Washington! We’re rooting for you. Go get ’em… and wear one of these dresses please.

Which of these dresses do you think Kerry Washington would look best in?
