The 2013 Tony Awards: a night dedicated to awarding the best theatrical performances of the year. The red carpet, of course was flooded with gowns that could qualify as theatrical performances themselves. “Kinky Boots,” “Pippin,” and “Matilda” weren’t the only big winners. Let’s break down the best dressed of the night…

1. Scarlett Johansson

The Avengers actress passed on her traditional overtly sexy look (which she can still pull off effortlessly) and went a little more modest this time. The result? Nailed it. The blazer looks incredible over her YSL little black dress.

2. Angela Bassett

Actress Angela Bassett really caught our eye. Her embellished top works perfectly with the simplicity of the rest of the gown. And we love that it’s strapless, she’s showing off her awesomely toned body!

3. Jane Krakowski

Jane Krakowski embodied the glitz and glam that broadway has always portrayed. This gown glowed, and so did she. With an open back, she showed just the right mount of skin.

4. Cyndi Lauper

Cyndi Lauper, add red carpet winner to your repertoire for the evening. Her red faux-hawk is undeniably sick – in the best way possible. We absolutely love the way it highlights her fun personality. You can bet we secretly wish we could rock this do… for a couple days at least.

5. Sigourney Weaver

Actress Sigourney Weaver looked great in in this royal blue gown. This fit accentuates her shape by adding tons of length. Simple done right.

Honorable Mention: Cecily Tyson

First off we’d like to say congratulations to the 79-year-old actress for winning Best Actress for her role in ‘Trip to Bountiful.’  While we aren’t fans of Tyson’s ensemble, we’ve deemed it honorable mention as excusably over-the-top. At the biggest celebration of theatrics, this is to be expected when the leading theatrical geniuses get together in one place. Overall, it’s right at home at the Tony Awards and to that, we say cheers.
