Last night was the 65th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, one of the biggest nights for television stars. We love award shows because that means red carpet fashion which, aside from fashion week, is basically something we live for. This year however, we found the red carpet to be a tad underwhelming. There were some fashion faux pas as always, and some people looked great, but there was nothing that really blew us away. We hope that everyone is saving the big guns for the Golden Globes in a few months, but until then let’s take a look at the outfits that we did enjoy.
Sarah Hyland
We really liked this green number on Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland. For someone so young and fun though, we would have loved a less harsh hairstyle and not quite so dark lipstick. However, it is hard for Sara not to look stunning, and this dress is gorgeous on her.
Clare Danes
Lead actress in a drama winner Clare Danes looked beautiful last night as she accepted her award for Homeland. We absolutely love this dress, but we wish it was a brighter color. Against Danes’ pale complexion, the detailing is lost, which is a shame. For someone so talented she deserves to stand out a bit more.
Kiernan Shipka
Thirteen year old Mad Men star Kiernan Shipka looked like a princess in her floral accented dress. We love that she always dresses age appropriately, while simultaneously managing to be on trend.
Neil Patrick Harris
Fact: Neil Patrick Harris always looks great. Especially when he suits up. We love that he did not go with a standard black suit and shook it up a bit. The skinny tie and layered look are definitely working for him as well. The How I Met Your Mother star hosted the Emmys this year, and he killed it – as always. If he hosted everything, along with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, we would be perfectly content.
Kaley Cuoco
The Big Bang Theory leading lady looked amazing in this burgundy gown. We love the ruffles accenting the skirt, and the sheer accent in the bodice. Kaley made a good choice keeping the jewelry to a minimum: a dress like this does not need any attention taken away from it.
Allison Williams
While we were not impressed with Lena Dunham’s outfit choice this year, we loved her Girls co-star Allison Williams in this blue Ralph Lauren dress. It is simple, but flatters her body type. We love the simple wave to her hair as well. We would love to see what shoes she paired with the dress.
Tina Fey
If Tina Fey and Allison Williams are any indication, than this rich shade of blue will be something to watch out for this season. This cobalt blue is fun and still classic, and we love it on Fey. This dress itself has an air of old Hollywood glamour to it, and we think it looks amazing on Tina.
Merritt Wever
Merritt Wever took home an Emmy last night for her supporting role on Nurse Jackie. Along with having one of the best speeches last night, we think she was one of the best dressed. The black and white is classic, and combined with the v-neck and the short sleeves the whole look is very elegant. Along with her swooped back hair-do, we think she looked absolutely stunning.
Who do you think was best dressed at the Emmys?
