We have to be honest, we’re not HUGE Amy Schumer fans (please, don’t judge us). Actually, it’s not so much that we aren’t fans, than we just have never really given her the time of day (please, don’t harm us!). But that’s all changing now thanks to her incredible interview with Glamour.
The 34-year-old comedian covers the glossy’s August issue, looking incredible. Her blue eyes pop in a stunning aqua Narcisco Rodriguez dress. Her hair is silky and her stance is powerful. She reinforces her empowering demeanor in her interview answers.
When speaking of her incredible U.K. Women of the Year Awards speech, when she said she could “catch a dick whenever” she wanted, Schumer explained that she has no regrets. “If a guy was like, ‘I can get p*ssy whenever I want,’ that guy would be a dickhead. But to deny that there’s a major difference is ridiculous. For women, we’re taught to eat less until we disappear. And trained to believe that if you don’t look like everyone else, then you’re unlovable. And men are not trained that way. Men can look like whatever and still date a supermodel. I’m proud of what I said. I think it’s good to see somebody saying: I have a belly. And I have cellulite. And I still deserve love. And to catch the old D. And to not apologize.”
Preach.
Of course these kind of thoughts are something that make many people uncomfortable, but Schumer isn’t backing down, which is why she is slowly, but surely, becoming the new face of feminism. “It was very unexpected. I don’t try to be feminist. I just am. It’s innately inside me. I have no interest in trying to be the perfect feminist, but I do believe feminists are in good hands with me.”
Oh, and if you’re thinking “omg, she’s so cool, she’s so boss,” just remember, she’s not always “on” as they say… “I think most people think they already know me and that I’ll be fine with them coming up and being very familiar with me. But really I’m an introvert and don’t feel comfortable around big groups and strangers. It’s overwhelming for somebody to come up and want to just be friends right away. People think comics are always funny and on. And we’re not. We’re pretty quiet.”
Agh, okay, it’s official, we’re fans.
