It’s hard to believe that Kate Moss is turning 40 years old today, but alas! It’s true. I guess we all age someday — though you’d hardly assume Moss is a day over 30. This modeling mogul has encountered her share of controversies in her long career as a model (she was discovered at the ripe age of 14!), but it’s undeniable that above everything, she is one talented lady. We’ve compiled some of Kate’s quirkiest photo shoots, ones you may not have seen yet. Check them out!
1. ‘Kate & The Gypsies’ for V Magazine
Kate Moss apparently lived on a gypsy commune for a couple of days while photographer Iain McKell shot her for V Magazine‘s September 2009 issue.
2. ‘Dreamgirl’ for W Magazine
She joined photographer wunderkind Ryan McGinley’s ethereal world as she seemingly floated on a cloud, wearing a Dior mink and raccoon fur coat and Malo briefs.
3. ‘Kate Moss in Torn Veil’
This shot, conceived and captured by the iconic Albert Watson back in 1993, is known today as one of the most famous photos of Kate Moss.
4. Kate Moss at the Ritz Paris
The Ritz Paris, the haven for the haute, hosted the model and the Vogue team, including photographer Tim Walker and stylist Grace Coddington. Posing in the Coco Chanel suite, Moss wears a 1960s-inspired Balenciaga cocktail dress made especially for Vogue.
5. ‘Freedom Child’ for Vogue UK
Corinne Day, the famed fashion photographer who first discovered Kate Moss, shot this editorial for Vogue UK in which Moss sits in a makeshift hut made of sticks and blankets.
6. Kate Fends Off the Dogs for Allure
She fends off dogs for this Mario Testino shoot, which ran in Allure‘s August 2013 issue.
7. Kate Moss is David Bowie
David Bowie’s old stage clothes were pulled out for this shoot for Vogue UK, including this kimono top and shorts by Kansai Yamamoto, made in 1973.
