Whether or not eyeliner is a key part of your daily makeup routine, every girl HAS to have at least a few eyeliners in her arsenal of beauty supplies. As someone who is an avid user of eyeliner, I want to personally thank whoever invented it because without it, I would look like a perpetually-tired 8-year-old. There are so many different kinds of eyeliner and different ways to apply it that it can definitely get confusing. There’s the cat eye, the reverse cat eye, the winged, and a bunch of other different techniques. Eyeliner can be bold or simple, depending on your mood.
So, we’ve decided to compile a list of some of what we think are the best eyeliners on the market! The great thing about all of these liners is that you do NOT have to be a makeup professional in order to use them and make them look good. As someone with an unsteady hand and mediocre makeup-applying skills, I am definitely a testament to this fact. All of these eyeliners are super easy to use and will actually last you all day, so you don’t have to deal with that fun moment when you go into the bathroom and realize your eyes are one big black, streaky mess. So scroll through and see which eyeliners we cannot live without!
This. Eyeliner. I have no words. (Just kidding, I do.) This has been my all-time #1 favorite for as long as I can remember now, and no other liquid eyeliner seems to do justice for me. The marker-like tip makes it ridiculously easy to use and to create cool looks like the cat eye. I personally use it in the jet black color, but there are a bunch of other fun colors to choose from!
This gel liner from Benefit is fairly new and is perfect for lovers of the cat eye/winged eyeliner look. Its matte black gel formula ensures that it won’t dry out, and it will last you throughout the entire day. Since this is a gel eyeliner, I usually apply it over my liquid/pencil eyeliner to refine the line or to make a cat eye, since it can sometimes look a little odd on its own.
3. Makeup Forever Aqua Eyes – $19
4. Shiseido Smoothing Eyeliner Pencil – $20
Obviously, you need to have at least one pencil eyeliner in your collection as well. I prefer liquid since I find that pencil tends to fade/run more easily for me, but this Shiseido pencil is the best I’ve found yet. The sponge-tip applicator also makes it much easier to blend your eyeliner, so you can create all kinds of looks.
This eyeliner solves one of makeup’s biggest struggles: dull eyeliner pencils. Instead of having to hand-sharpen this pencil, it automatically sharpens when you twist the cap. Genius. This one is also good to use on your inner rim.
These are all of our favorite liners! And, to round off the article, a funny (yet tragically true) picture via Reddit that us eyeliner enthusiasts understand all too well:
